Great Quotes

It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men. ~Samuel Adams

News Coverage of Tea Party

I'm watching my local Fox affiliate news and while they are going to report on today's protest, they have buried it at the end of the broadcast behind stories including, but not limited to: an offensive billboard, a dog that saved someone's life, the president at the Bulls game, sports, weather, The Simpsons cartoon getting resigned, two lawsuits, CTA complaints, and an octopus who flooded a pet store. I kid you not. Then, when reporting the story, they cut the interviews to only a few seconds with two protesters and then found people on the street who support the president's policies and let them talk much longer. I'll let you watch it for yourself so you can decide whose side you think they're on. I am reminded of the big war protests in the city. I don't remember them seeking out people who weren't in the protest to ask their opinion...

Crickets from NBC, they didn't report it at all, which is odd because we were all standing in front of their newsroom and their cameras were there. I don't know what ABC did because I can't watch two channels at once (anyone who knows, let me know) ABC did a very short segment on their afternoon news. Here's the Fox broadcast.

Tea Party Photo Updates

The Photos are pouring in! And local Fox has a video clip HERE

CHICAGO TEA PARTY PHOTOS!!!

Well it was a great and very COLD day in Chicago! There was a huge turnout at the Tea Party Protest! My daughter and I nearly froze, but we toughed it out! What a great crowd! Check out the photos! I am not very good at posing a 3-year-old...the sign says, "Mommy says, Don't Steal. The IRS does not like the competition!"

This was my favorite sign. I am re-reading Atlas Shrugged for the 3rd time and if you haven't read it...maybe you shouldn't. You won't be able to sleep anymore.

If any of you were there, send me photos and I'll post them!

Chicago Tea Party

I'm headed down to the Chicago Tea Party Protest at Daley Plaza this morning at 11. I am actually pleased that Fox local news is already reporting it so I expect we'll actually have some coverage! If any of you out there can make it, I'll see you there. I'll post photos later tonight!

State of Confusion

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy...where to begin? Has anyone ever heard so much ado about nothing? There wasn't one new idea, or new piece of information in Obama's entire speech last night. Consequently, the market plummeted again this morning after a small rally yesterday. I am beginning to think that we would all be better off if the Big O would simply be quiet. The quieter he is, the more the market starts to rebound. But no, he's going to be in front of those cameras 3 to 4 times a week to keep the brainwashing from wearing off, and as a result of his anti-free market policy, your stock portfolio is going to suffer.

"I will not spend a single penny for the purpose of rewarding a single Wall Street executive, but I will do whatever it takes to help the small business that can't pay its workers, or the family that has saved and still can't get a mortgage."

But he won't cut taxes for small business and he won't cut your taxes (more than $13 a week...whoopee!). And he's still going to take your money to help out that family who hasn't saved enough to get a mortgage they won't be able to pay. How is this "hearing" us? There are a lot of families in the country right now who rent. My family is one of them. We rent because we cannot afford the down payment on a home right now. Renting is a good option for us. We have not signed any long term commitment we can't afford. We would like to live in a house, of course! Will we do so before we are financially able to and rely on government intervention to save us? NO WAY. (Although I'm beginning to think "why not?" everyone else is doing it.) But at the end of the day there are a certain kind of people who will not take advantage of the system because they have principles, more important to them than a house. And it's those people who DO NOT IN ANY WAY support helping other people who aren't willing to live responsibly. How does the president know that this taxpayer funded help isn't going to irresponsible people? How are they going to decide who is responsible and who is not? Here's one way. Are they paying their mortgage? If they are, maybe they should get a capital gains exemption or a major tax cut! How about actually rewarding people who OBEY THE LAW???

But instead, we are going to help another generation of people who can't afford a mortgage, get a mortgage and repeat this same scenario all over again. THIS is why the market is tanking. Not because they want to see bailouts for bankers. As I recall, after the bailout bill, the markets did not rally. And let's talk about those traders that Mr. Gibbs, WH Press Sec., is so upset about. After Rick Santelli's rant on the Merc floor in Chicago, Gibbs came out and said something to the effect of "we decided a while ago that what is good for dividends traders is not the same as what is good for America." Basically, he said, you traders are a bunch of rich guys who are the problem. Well did you know that the average trader salary in NYC is only $51,000 a year? If they don't represent middle America, then who does? They even qualify for the president's $13 a week tax cut!

Middle America is mad as hell at the outrageous plan to spend us into oblivion. And no, Mr. President, you do not "get it" and you are not listening.

Join me this Friday at the Daley Plaza from 11-12:30 for the Chicago Tea Party. I'll be there and hope to see you too! If you're not in this state, simply go to Facebook and type in your city and "tea party" and it will bring you to a local event near you. It's time to show these people that you don't have to work on Wall Street to understand that a tanking market isn't good for anybody and helping out people who didn't plan their lives well ISN'T OUR RESPONSIBILITY.

Check out this awesome video from Right.org. I have to hand it to the conservatives. When it comes to protesting, we know how to do it right. Creativity and hilarity ensue.

Thanks to Doug Giles at Clash Radio for the interview today which I will post later for you all to hear.

Sacrifice & Glutton

When Washington D.C. gets all snitty and snarky about CEO's using private jets or redecorating offices, it makes me laugh. These are the same people who also take private jets to and from their offices in D.C.! They also hire decorators to redo their congressional offices and throw cocktail parties with $100 steaks. And the taxpayers foot the bill. At least most of the CEOs they impugn regularly are still paying for their pork themselves. In the last few days, the outrageous spending habits by politicians have been highlighted in unbelievable ways. You and I are losing jobs and scrimping to buy shampoo, and the elite in power are flying around in luxury and weekending in Chicago to visit restaurants in which you and I couldn't buy an appetizer, let alone a whole meal.

Nancy Pelosi has been given the use of a 200-seater jet by the Sergeant at Arms because of "safety" concerns. This plane costs the taxpayers of CA over $400k a month or over 5 million a year. Although she claims she prefers to fly commercial, there are no reports of coach passengers spotting Nattering Nancy on their flights. In the meantime, the taxpayers of CA are receiving IOUs from the state of CA instead of their tax returns.

Barack Obama, who has been in office a short 3 weeks, has already ordered a brand new fleet of Airforce Once Helicopters totaling more than his Airforce One 747 at a whopping 11 billion dollars. He apparently can't make do with the 30 year-old fleet he already has. This comes right after the most expensive inaugural ball in history, costing 170 million. Then Obama threw a swanky cocktail party and served fancy steak at $100 a slice. Then we have the weekend in Chicago for Valentine's day. Apparently the personal chef in his new mansion wasn't good enough for a romantic dinner. I'm not that surprised that our new First Family isn't enjoying the White House all that much. They don't seem the type to really be into Americana. And now it seems, he plans to make the Chicago trip every 6 weeks.

Then members of congress left a few days ago courtesy of the AirForce (also funded by...YOU) for a world tour with their families. I don't believe for one minute that there isn't going to be any "down time" and that it's all business. Yeah, okay. I would love to know what the bill for this luxury vacation is going to cost us but no one seems to know. Just like no one seems to know how often our congress gives themselves raises, more benefits, incredible retirements, etc. Like I always say folks, it's nice work if you can get it.

The outright disregard for the actual suffering of the taxpayers under the enormous burden of the state is not surprising. But it's eventually going to be too much to bear, and what I want to know is, when will the taxpayer finally shrug?

Time to Face Facts by Mr. Fox

My lovely wife, Megan, is usually the purveyor of wit and insight on the Intolerant Fox but with today’s passing of the stimulus bill, 61 for and 37 against, I find that I can’t contain my disgust with the path this country is taking and as such I have a proposal that some may consider somewhat radical and some may agree with but I ultimately feel this change would be the best way for this country to truly move forward.

I would first point out the margin of victory in the most recent presidential election where I will readily admit the electoral vote was no contest, as President Obama trounced Senator McCain but for the purposes of my proposal, the electoral totals are irrelevant. I would like to focus on the popular vote, and not to use it as an argument that the election was closer than it really was (like many Democrats have done in the past when a Republican has won.) I would simply like to use the totals to convey why I think this country may seriously need to consider moving in a different direction. During the recent election President Obama garnered roughly 69 million votes to Senator McCain’s 60 million votes. Previous to the 2008 election the 2004 contest saw President Bush accumulate roughly 62 million votes to Senator Kerry’s 59 million votes. I could go on but the chart here http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0781450.html shows the vote totals back to 1976.

I would like you to take a hard look at the popular vote totals, regardless of who has won and by what percentage, in the past 30 plus years. It is plain to see that a substantial portion of Americans have been on the opposite side of every election. I would like to use the 2008 totals of 66 million to 58 million respectively and the only other “route” in recent history, 1984, where President Reagan garnered roughly 54 million votes to roughly 38 million for Senator Mondale. The reason I’m using these two examples is due to the favor both winners have had and currently have within their respective parties. President Obama is considered by most Democrats to be the best thing to happen to this country, ever, while conservatives believe the same of President Reagan, God rest his soul.

The results of 1984 and 2008 are being used to convey a simple truth, our great country has once again become a country with two very distinct belief systems that can’t peacefully exist together. It is this presumption that I believe gives credence to my main argument that we have come to a tipping point much like the period leading up to start of the Civil war in 1861.

I would argue that the government of this country no longer, and it could certainly be argued, hasn’t represented the entirety of this country in a very long time. We are a country founded on and based on a belief in God which is being trampled and ridiculed at every turn. The media and many politicians would tell you that devout Christians are extremists and don’t represent the majority of Americans. These same people try to paint the religious conviction by prominent and average Americans as backward and dangerous. These misguided politicians would have you believe that most Americans aren’t ardent in their belief in God. I would simply say to them, you’re wrong.

Our liberal patriots would tell you that it is our duty to protect the country by sacrificing the elderly and sick among us. Bloomberg.com These same courageous men and women would tell you that happiness can only be achieved through economic equality and that the rich are evil, but of course they are good, honest, tax paying, rich people. It is those pesky, fault admitting, evil, tax avoiding Republicans you should worry about.

The truth is that I’m beginning to think that while we coexist in the same cities and towns as the people who are opposed to living as Americans under the ideals founded by the creators of this great country we are contributing to the demise of our way of life. I am beginning to believe that it may, at some not too distant point in the future, become impossible for us to live with one another. Let’s be honest with one another, if the average person could move to a location where the people respected and lived by your ideals and principles wouldn’t you move to such a place? Wouldn’t you peacefully exit what is slowly becoming enemy territory? The problem is that we can only state jump which doesn’t address the issue of national oversight by those who disagree so drastically with the two main ideologies in this country; right and wrong.

It is for this reason that I think it’s time for people to express their interest in creating two separate countries. We could peacefully coexist with our neighbor and former country mates because we would have some shared history and traces of humanity but we would for all purposes be two different countries with two governing bodies that would once again represent their people. It has become apparent to me that we would all be better off creating two unions that had strong ties but could run their respective countries as they see fit. The North or East (and California) could decide to become a socialist country while the South or West (except California) could decided to reinstate the Democratic, Christian based government that could represent the whole of its people.

I pose this simply as something to ponder since this country, like all great countries of the past, will fall one day. I see the writing on the wall and while some might call me an alarmist I would like to think of myself as a proactive realist and someone who would like to do something while we still can save part of our way of life all the while proving our former countrymen wrong by leaving them to their own self-destructive ways.

Sneaky Socialized Medicine in Stimulus

If this isn't enough to send you to Washington D.C. with pitchforks and torches, I don't know what will. Chills ran up my spine when I read the following from an article on Bloomberg.com tonight;

Feb. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Republican Senators are questioning whether President Barack Obama’s stimulus bill contains the right mix of tax breaks and cash infusions to jump-start the economy.

Tragically, no one from either party is objecting to the health provisions slipped in without discussion. These provisions reflect the handiwork of Tom Daschle, until recently the nominee to head the Health and Human Services Department.

Senators should read these provisions and vote against them because they are dangerous to your health. (Page numbers refer to H.R. 1 EH, pdf version).

The bill’s health rules will affect “every individual in the United States” (445, 454, 479). Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system. Having electronic medical records at your fingertips, easily transferred to a hospital, is beneficial. It will help avoid duplicate tests and errors.

But the bill goes further. One new bureaucracy, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions (442, 446).

What does this mean for you? Let's let Tom Daschle explain.

The goal, Daschle’s book explained, is to slow the development and use of new medications and technologies because they are driving up costs. He praises Europeans for being more willing to accept “hopeless diagnoses” and “forgo experimental treatments,” and he chastises Americans for expecting too much from the health-care system.

More willing to accept DYING... did you hear that, you "let's nationalize health care" FREAKS? And we all know who he's talking about don't we? Your sweet little grandmother. Tom Daschle and our new president want her to DIE to save the rest of us money.

Daschle says health-care reform “will not be pain free.” Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them. That means the elderly will bear the brunt.

And don't forget those of you who are young but have been given a death sentence with cancer, let's say. They tell you, you have 6 to 8 months to live with chemo and 1 to 2 months without. Guess who's not getting chemo? Guess who has 7 less months with their children...that's right..YOU. Not horrified yet?

Medicare now pays for treatments deemed safe and effective. The stimulus bill would change that and apply a cost- effectiveness standard set by the Federal Council (464).

The Federal Council is modeled after a U.K. board discussed in Daschle’s book. This board approves or rejects treatments using a formula that divides the cost of the treatment by the number of years the patient is likely to benefit. Treatments for younger patients are more often approved than treatments for diseases that affect the elderly, such as osteoporosis.

In 2006, a U.K. health board decreed that elderly patients with macular degeneration had to wait until they went blind in one eye before they could get a costly new drug to save the other eye. It took almost three years of public protests before the board reversed its decision.

That's right lefties....your mother or father may be forced to GO BLIND in one eye EVEN THOUGH WE CAN STOP IT, because it's not COST EFFECTIVE. You wanted free health care...this is what you get. Here's my favorite part;

Hiding health legislation in a stimulus bill is intentional. Daschle supported the Clinton administration’s health-care overhaul in 1994, and attributed its failure to debate and delay. A year ago, Daschle wrote that the next president should act quickly before critics mount an opposition. “If that means attaching a health-care plan to the federal budget, so be it,” he said. “The issue is too important to be stalled by Senate protocol.”

When Daschle says this issue is "too important to be stalled by Senate protocol" what he really means is, it's too important to be DEFEATED BY YOU!!! They are going to ram this through in the Porkulus package (which is supposed to be for economic recovery) without a sound! Without a debate and without your knowledge! Is this what we've come to? That we don't even get to debate the laws that our elected officials pass? What happened to the separation of powers? With the Obamamaniacs running everything, they're just pushing through all kinds of baloney that we don't even get to debate!

This is an outrage. If Obama wants a health bill, he needs to write one separate from the stimulus bill that will get proper review and debate on the house floor and will be open to the public for OUR REVIEW considering WE PAY THE FLIPPING BILLS around here and I sure as @!#? do not want to be told I only need one eye to pursue my happiness! When are you going to wake up and see what is happening? They are going to take away our rights to thundering applause and YOU are letting it happen.

I can assure you, I've been on the phone. Have you?

Daschle Update!

Daschle is out! He withdrew his name from consideration....convenient. I wonder if he'll pay those taxes now...

It's nice work if you can get it...

Does no one in Washington pay taxes? I guess the dirty little secret is out. You are required to pay your taxes by penalty of jail and enormous fines while the Kings in Washington just collect your money and pocket it. When they don't pay taxes, it was a mistake. When you don't pay taxes, you're a criminal.

This is the main reason this country exists. To provide a government of The People and not of men. Men who establish themselves as Kings over the little people. Men who have certain rules for you that they don't adhere to because they are above common law. George Washington would be puking in his memorial if he could see what is happening today. It's no wonder we can't get politicians to care about tax cuts...THEY'RE NOT PAYING ANY!!! Must be nice! I'm not going to accuse only the Democrats of this behavior, although they're the only ones getting caught at the moment, I'm sure there are some Republicans (most likely the moderates) who aren't paying theirs either. But until we hear who, I'll stick to the Democrats. So far we have:

Tom Daschle: $128,000 in unpaid taxes
Charlie Rangel: over $10,000 in unpaid taxes
Tim Geithner: $34,000 in unpaid taxes (and maybe more. info inconclusive but the guy didn't pay his taxes for 3 years)
Nancy Killefer: Unknown amount of taxes unpaid for "household help" which will probably turn out to be illegal household help which is why she didn't pay the taxes!
And keep in mind that when these people pay back these taxes, they won't be paying any fines or interest like you or I would have to do. And we're paying them HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS a year for their "service" to this country, not to mention retirement plans you can't even dream of.

So when Obama says he wants to spread the wealth around, what he means is take your money and give it to his goons in the government. He's still backing Daschle. Killefer declined her appointment voluntarily, Charlie Rangel is still a member of the Ways and Means Committee and Tim Geithner is the new head of the Treasury!

Is this the CHANGE you were hoping for?

Islam Watch (Keeping an eye on the Religion of Peace)

A friend of mine, a Coptic Christian, sent me a petition he wanted me to pass on to you. If you don't know, Coptic Christians are a minority in Egypt who have been severely persecuted by the Religion of Peace for many years. At one point, it got so bad, a million or so Coptic Christians immigrated to the U.S. to find peace and safety away from the bloody Islamic terror. Today, the fight continues in Egypt. This particular story involves a Christian couple who divorced and their children ended up in the custody of the state. A Muslim social worker took the children without permission and placed them in the custody of a Muslim mosque, who placed them with a Muslim family. The petition needs 10,000 signatures to get the courts to place the children with a Coptic Christian family, thus honoring their religious upbringing. Please follow the link to sign the petition to release these children back into their culture. So far there are only a little over 2,000 signatures. Please send to everyone you know.
