The left-wingers want to know why we call what we are doing a Tea Party and they love to try and say that we're historically incorrect. If they could get past their giant, pointy heads, they might try to see the big picture. We are not trying to replicate the original Boston Tea Party in 1773. What we are doing is embracing the revolutionary spirit with which this country was put into motion. This country rejected royalty in 1776 with a letter to King George that started the Revolutionary War. We rejected the idea of slavery to a king then as we reject it today. Today, instead of a king, we have a house of kings posing as Congressmen. They fly on taxpayer-funded private jets, retire with obscene retirement packages and pay next to nothing for the best health care in the nation. Then, instead of working for the people, they spend all their time raising more money to stay in their cushy congressional seats.
This problem transcends party lines. Each representative is worse than the next. John Edwards was right. There are two Americas; the bloated pigs in D.C. and the rest of us working our fingers to the bone to pay for their pork. Those of us regular people out here are sacrificing every day to survive. We don't go on vacations, we eat at home, we save and scrape to get by and it's time that Congress did the same. Shut down the congressional cafeteria. Let them brown-bag it like the rest of us. Take away the private planes and let them fly coach, I refuse to pay for it a minute longer. Who do they think they are? Elvis? They have a lot of nerve getting angry at CEOs of companies who earned the money to pay for their jets while they fly around on BORROWED MONEY!!! Take away the retirement packages...why should any congressman be in that job so long they retire in it? And if Social Security is good enough for us, it's good enough for them. We need TERM LIMITS. Throw the bums out! Don't tax the rich...TAX CONGRESS!!! Let's impose a 90% salary tax on them! Let's make them cut their staffs in HALF! The rich at least provide us with jobs. When was the last time you got hired by Congress? And that's really what this day is about. It's about taking back control over our country and our individual freedoms. Those idiots on Capitol Hill work for YOU. Not the other way around. Let's send them packing in 2010! All of them! I want a DO OVER.I knew this protest was going to be much bigger and much better than the last one that was thrown together in only 3 days. Not only did we have a working microphone this time, but actual speakers like Mancow, Jonathan Honig The Capitalist Pig and more! It was a great day with no violence (unlike our leftist friends at UNC who had to be pepper-sprayed to keep them from rioting), and yet the Dept. of Homeland Security is still defending their asinine screed calling us "right-wing extremists". Okay, Janet. Seems to me you might want to more closely monitor the people who keep starting fights at protests, not those of us who actually assemble peacefully.
The crowd was huge. I'd say over 2,000 but it was hard to tell. I'm waiting for the actual estimates. All I know is by 1pm, it was shoulder to shoulder with no room to move. (And I had a stroller in that crowd!) I tried to do some street interviews but a lot of people had been scared by the Daily Kos and ACORN infiltrators who were said to be roaming around trying to make our side look like dumb racists by asking loaded questions. I was turned down by many folks who were scared I might betray them. It was unfortunate because I would have liked to have recorded the views the mainstream media won't. We need a secret password or something so that we know who's who. Well, maybe next time. Enjoy the photos and the few interviews I managed to get. (Will be posting those momentarily)

My sign says 90% Tax on Congressional Salaries!!!

Thanks for the pics Megan! Unfortunately, I could not make it downtown this time, but I was there in spirit.
