Great Quotes

It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men. ~Samuel Adams

News Coverage of Tea Party

I'm watching my local Fox affiliate news and while they are going to report on today's protest, they have buried it at the end of the broadcast behind stories including, but not limited to: an offensive billboard, a dog that saved someone's life, the president at the Bulls game, sports, weather, The Simpsons cartoon getting resigned, two lawsuits, CTA complaints, and an octopus who flooded a pet store. I kid you not. Then, when reporting the story, they cut the interviews to only a few seconds with two protesters and then found people on the street who support the president's policies and let them talk much longer. I'll let you watch it for yourself so you can decide whose side you think they're on. I am reminded of the big war protests in the city. I don't remember them seeking out people who weren't in the protest to ask their opinion...

Crickets from NBC, they didn't report it at all, which is odd because we were all standing in front of their newsroom and their cameras were there. I don't know what ABC did because I can't watch two channels at once (anyone who knows, let me know) ABC did a very short segment on their afternoon news. Here's the Fox broadcast.

it's true we don't know how to protest. no one could hear that stupid mike and no one really knew how to get the crowd going because normally we WORK FOR A LIVING. So I'm not embarrassed that we're not great rabble-rousers. I'm quite proud that we all showed up. And to correct that idiot...most went back to work after being on a long lunch. Next time, we'll have it a little more together, but Lord knows I don't want to ever be considered a "professional protester" Thanks for listening to the show and stopping by!
