Blame the Illinois lawmakers...not Blago

The whole world is in an uproar over Blago making an appointment to the US Senate. And this is a shocking development, especially after the governor stated that he would not appoint anyone to the senate just a week ago. But upon closer inspection, the fault is clearly at the feet of the IL lawmakers (as usual). Blagojevich asked the congress to call for a special election to fill the senate seat. But that was not an option for the IL Democrat-majority congress because they were terrified that the People would choose a Republican to fill the seat. And if there's one thing an IL politician can't have, it's the will of the People. What they were hoping to get away with was removing the Governor, replacing him with the Lieutenant Governor and letting him appoint another Democrat to the senate seat. I hate to say I agree with Blago, but in this case, I do. The IL Congress has put their political agenda ahead of the People of IL.

This is not to say that the appointment by Blago should stand. It seems wrong that he should get to appoint anyone to that seat after trying to sell it. However, I'm making a prediction the Roland Burris appointment will stand. Despite my hopes that a black president would end the constant race-baiting and false claims of oppression by minorities, it's already begun here in Chicago. Bobby Rush, who I'm embarrassed to say is not only a former Black Panther but my congressman, has been all over the news threatening anyone who stands against Burris, because he's black. His theory is that since Obama is black, that senate seat is now a Blacks Only seat. He's threatening to get the Black Congressional Congress involved. (I wonder how long it will be before there are Blacks Only water fountains in the Senate chambers.) The poker game has begun, and we all know what happens when the race-baiters throw down their cards. They win!

So congratulations Senator Burris. In a few months the controversy will be a distant memory and you can continue the great tradition of Democrats Only in IL politics.

Old Habits are Hard to Break

I guess it was too much to hope that our new president-elect would continue his co-presidency with Bush in the final days. Especially when a real doozy has come up. Yep, it's been days since Israel launched retaliation attacks against Hamaas with no response from the Chosen One. He's going to sit this one out and let the real president deal with it. Apparently, co-presidency only works for him on easier issues. Much like his days in the Senate, Obama is voting "present" while jogging on the beach in Kailua showing off his glistening, waxed chest to drooling members of the press.

Could this be the big "test" Biden warned us about? Is this why they've been trying to lower everyone's expectations since the big win? Is it because they always knew Uhhhbama can't possibly live up to the promises made on the trail? I thought the oceans were going to recede, the wars would stop, and the bombings would magically go away. Why doesn't he wave his hand and end this crisis? He hasn't even tried to talk it away. I don't see any press conferences, or calls to world leaders to employ his much-raved about diplomatic skills. What's up Barry? It's time to be the Miracle Man everyone thinks you are!

But that's right, you're working out. And the press has nothing to say about it. I'd like to now remind you of the way the press skewered President Bush for his regimented exercise routine. Clarifying "Beefcake"

To the mainstream media (especially the BBC-since the British are always the last to know what's attractive, i.e. dental hygiene) who don't appear to know what a "beefcake" actually is, I am here to help.

Beefcake:Often seen gracing buses and billboards modelling underwear. Makes women involuntarily sigh.

Average guy: Never seen on the cover of anything. Makes women involuntarily sigh when they notice he hasn't taken out the garbage...again.

Man of the People?

Some of you know that Hawaii is a very special place for me. I spent a lot of time there over the years with my family who has lived there since the 60's or maybe earlier. I was distressed to see my favorite beach splashed all over the news today because Obama is staying on it. This is a very private stretch of beach at the end of Kailua beach. It is where my grandmother lived for many years, steps away from a beautiful, quiet paradise. Every beach on Hawaii is public or has public access, except the military beaches. Kailua is no exception. My grandmother emailed me today with the sad news that the stretch of Kailua beach near her house has been closed to the public because of Obama. This has not made the news. In fact, in the NY Post today it said Obama would be seeing the neighbors because of the public nature of the beach. I guess they don't have any reporters trying to walk that beach. My grandmother assures me, it's closed. If Obama is looking for security and safety, I can personally testify that there are several mansions on the island with locked gates, safely away from public beaches that he could have chosen. Instead, he chose to close off an entire beach where people live. This is where people walk their dogs every morning, where they jog, play with their children, and live. He is inconveniencing an entire neighborhood, and I'm not sure he has the right to do it.

Travellers beware! It seems the Obama's are going to take over the island of Oahu for their private vacation spot. You might want to check with the White House travel agents before booking your trip.

p.s. also am really tired of hearing about what a "beefcake" O is. Looks to me like he could use a Manzierre. Nice wax job.

SS Snoring on the Job

Apparently, the POTUS is so yesterday's news that not even the Secret Service cares if he gets his nose smashed in by a size 10 shoe. What were they doing? I have watched the film several times and each time am amazed that it took them several seconds AFTER the second shoe was thrown to even come in the room. (Is this what is called waiting for the [second] shoe to drop?) It appears the assailant was stopped by the Iraqi journalists around him! Then, to add insult to almost-injury, when they did enter the room, not one of them actually got in front of the president. How are we to believe they'll take a bullet for the president when none of them would take a shoe? Excuse my language, but what the @#!? (That's Illinoisan for "sam-hill".) Nice message to the rest of the world, Boys. Attack the POTUS, we won't stop you!

Bush has often been accused of going it alone, but who knew he'd have to be his own security detail? I wonder how much we pay SS these days to pick their noses while the main man is getting attacked in broad daylight live on TV! Luckily for Bush, he's an athletic and in-shape guy, although he looks like he's ready to pass out at any moment (the usual look an exiting president has).

So thanks SS for embarrassing the whole country by not doing your only job. Hope you do a better job for the next president. Lord knows we need him alive and well or this place will become a war zone. I hope Obama was taking notes and fires all of them as his first order of business and replaces them with some scary Special Forces dudes. I may have all kinds of issues with our new president, but we'll fight that out with debate. America needs to keep her president protected.

God help the Secret Service not to suck anymore. (That's my special Christmas prayer this year.)

Chicago-style Incest

It's time to introduce the world to Chicago's dirty secrets, and I can't think of a better time to do it. With all the whining about the Bushes or the Kennedys having all the money and power in the world, at least they all ran for elections. Here in Chicago we have a different way of putting people into elected office. We skip the election process entirely and rely on appointments based on nepotism. Sounds great, huh? Here's how it works. Cook County President John Stroger (D) had a stroke. While lying in his hospital bed he anointed his son, Todd, as the new county president. Todd had no experience or qualifications for the job. Not only that, there was an election coming up in a few months, but Stroger decided not to risk the people unseating his family name. So Todd Stroger (D) is our new Cook County President. In his new position he has angered pretty much everyone by hiring all his relatives into positions they aren't qualified for while raising sales tax and property tax to unbelievable heights. (Cook County sales tax is now 10.25%) And yet, US Attorney Fitzgerald hasn't arrested him, even though he engages in pay to play on a daily basis...we pay, he plays.

Then there's the Jacksons. We all know Jesse Jackson (D). Who you probably don't know very well is his son Jesse Jackson Jr. (D) who was elected to the congress at the very young age of 22 (I think...or 23...he was young.) He has been there now for 13 or so years, which is by his own account his most valuable qualification to be a senator. God save us from lifetime politicians. What I just found out this week is that JJ Jr's wife, Sandi Jackson (D), is actually an alderman! Surprise, surprise. She's the new alderman of the 7th ward. She ran against a lifelong police officer with no family name of any distinction and, one imagines, no professional gangsters in his family to shakedown the constituents for him.

That brings me to Alderman Dick Mel (D). He's a dinosaur who has been around since the dawn of time, or at least the Chicago Fire. His daughter Patti married Rod Blagojevich (D) who Daddy then put into the Governor's chair before getting into a feud that lasted 2 years. Mel's other daughter, Deb Mel (D), radical lesbian protester who was arrested for assaulting a police officer at a gay marriage protest, has just been elected to the General Assembly. Unbelievably, she will soon be called upon to vote yay or nay on impeachment articles for her brother-in-law. (There should be an option to recuse oneself in this situation, but this is Chicago and no one will even think twice about the inappropriateness of this conundrum.)

Then there's Mike Madigan (D), Speaker of the House of Representatives for the state of IL. His daughter Lisa Madigan (D) was first elected to the senate with no experience for the job but her name and with the help of her father and then elected as Attorney General two years later. She's the only one who isn't a complete failure. I think she may be the only one with a conscience....but time will tell. Now if someone will only counsel her to get some bangs and hide that unusually large forehead.

Moving on to Emil Jones (D). Jones is the President of the IL Senate. He wants Obama's senatorial seat pretty bad, but if he gets it, he's already made plans to appoint his son, another unqualified, unelected daddy's boy, to his current position. Still, no one complains. (Except the 5 Republicans left in this state.)

And of course, let us not forget King Richard (D). King Richard the First held the city with an iron fist until he screwed up and went to the tropics during a snowstorm that left the city buried and no one forgave him for that. King Richard the Second learned that very valuable lesson and keeps the streets snow-free better than any city in the world. This is how he retains power. No one cares if he's neck-deep in illegal activities as long as the streets are drivable. Seriously. Do not underestimate the draw of this convenience. I lived in Chicago for years and found myself strangely fond of Daley on many a snowy day. King Richard II's brother, Bill Daley (D), has found himself in many lucrative positions over the years. He served as the US Secretary of Commerce under Clinton, is on the Obama transition team advisory board, and headed up many banks in Chicago. He currently sits on the board of directors at Boeing.

Notice I haven't named any powerful Republican families in IL. I'm not covering up, I really just don't know of any. Just the term "powerful Republican" in Illinois is enough to get a good laugh from anyone paying attention. Considering Illinois has now topped all 50 states in corruption and is actually being compared to the Soviets by some, it needs to be fully understood that there isn't anyone to blame but the Democrats who have run this place for generations. The fact that Illinoisans continue to vote for these smarmy crooks and allow nepotism and "appointments" instead of free elections, seriously calls into question the intelligence of the people of Illinois. Face it folks, there's no one to blame but yourselves for not firing these clowns and giving the other party a go.

(Please don't email me about George Ryan being a Republican. The guy put a moratorium on the death penalty! That is NOT a Republican move. Not to mention, Dick Durbin (D) is calling for his commutation. That should tell anyone who cares to know, Ryan was no Republican or the Dems would just let him rot. )

O THE HUMANITY!

The manufactured outrage coming from the Chicago Democrats is hilarious to watch. The idea that no one, including the pristine and un-smudged president-elect Obama, had any idea what the Governor was up to for the last 6 years is absurd. I knew, my neighbors knew, my parents knew, the Tribune knew for at least the last 3 years that the Governor has been implicated in pay-to-play scandal. Beyond that, everyone who lives within driving distance of Cook County knows that in order to gain any contract with the city, one has to make a generous donation to the current Democrat who is campaigning! How is it that the Democrats get away with wailing to anyone who will listen that they are so shocked and surprised at this latest development? The Republicans in Illinois (what few straggling losers there are) have been telling everyone since Blago's last re-election that the guy is greasier than Zorro's hat band* but nobody, especially the Democrats, cared. In fact, the Democrats rallied around the Governor and supported his re-election! That included the recently weepy Jesse Jackson, Jr. who was actually STUMPING today during his press conference to deny any wrongdoing. The guy is still jockeying for the senate job! The gall of these people is truly hard to absorb.

I love that they are acting like Blagojevich is the only dirty-dealer in the bunch. Are they high? I have some inside knowledge about a local election that just went down here. I'll omit names to protect the innocent. A local businessman ran for Congress for the first time this last election on a Republican ticket. His opponent was a Democrat insider. The Republican's own friends and close working partners told him openly that although they wanted to give him donations for his campaign, they were required to give large sums to the Democrat opponent or they would be blackballed from their contracts and would never work in this state again. Not surprisingly, the Republican lost.

I have another acquaintance who owns a business. This business has been awarded very lucrative contracts including work on Millennium Park and Michigan Avenue among others. The owner donated large sums to the Blagojevich campaign for each contract and just "happens" to be friends with a Blagojevich relative. I don't really blame this person for doing what everyone does around here to pay the bills. If you want to eat in Chicago, you've got to know the piper and then pay him.

These are two specific instances of which I have intimate knowledge. It happens on every level, in every town within Cook County. For the Democrats to cry ignorant should be laughable to the world. But it seems as if the world is just now waking up to the bad smell wafting from Chicago-way. I'm 32 years old and it has stunk around here for as long as I can remember. I imagine if you talked to my father, he could tell you the stink has lasted at least 66 years. The insincerity of Chicago Democrats who are now wringing their hands and calling for impeachment should be obvious to all for the cheap, frantic back peddling crooks they are. NONE of them are clean. NONE of them are blameless. If there were a Republican to pin it on, it would have been done by now.

I hope you are all prepared for the kind of corruption that is about to hit the White House. Nobody does corruption and slime-peddling like Chicago politicians. They are drenched in manure and spritzed with cheap perfume. Regardless of what Fitzgerald says about others' uninvolvement in this scandal, rest assured, no one is spotless here. They may just be too small potatoes for the JD to deal with. As for Obama, no one ever accused him of being dumb so it's likely he won't be connected in any real way (which does not mean innocent) and as for Daley, he won't be either. Everyone knows nothing happens in this town without his permission or directive but no one can prove it and they never will.

Jesse Jackson, Jr. is sweet denouncing this charge so vehemently isn't he? Maybe he would be more effective or believable if the family practice wasn't Shakedown Coalition. His father has hustled the entire city several times, turning out its pockets for every last nickel, inspiring an entire book called "Shakedown." It's a little hard to believe that the son learned nothing from the father.

So if you find yourself still celebrating with your champagne and sushi over our new President-elect and some nagging fear starts to encroach on your fun, I want you to know I understand how you feel. We live with that nagging fear every day here in Cook County. You'll get used to it, drink up!

On a slightly different topic, would everyone please stop saying this is a terrible and sad thing for Illinois? Whenever a sleazebag politician gets led away in handcuffs it's a GREAT day for the country, for our Constitution and for the people. This is an event to celebrate! The good guys are winning! Stop being sad and start feeling the waves of justice rolling over your great nation!

F-ing Golden!

I've finally found the cure for morning sickness. I've been battling it pretty bad since the double line showed up on the pee-stick. But this morning, it all changed. I woke up and groggily turned on the TV and prepared to get out of bed slowly and head for some bread. When I heard that Governor Blagojevich was frog-marched out of his home by the feds this morning, before he had a chance to eat his Wheaties, my nausea disappeared! I actually jumped out of bed, did a happy dance, then ran into the kitchen and whipped up a huge breakfast for my daughter and fixed myself a celebratory yogurt with granola and settled back into bed to enjoy the show. I'm still in bed, but it's not because I can't get up for fear of kacking. No no, I'm feeling better than I have in a month and I owe it all to US Attorney Fitzgerald.

By now you should all know that Blago has been arrested on pay to play charges and the latest, trying to sell Obama's senate seat for a cabinet position, ambassadorships, cold hard cash or high paying jobs for his wife and family! For those of you who still believe in the great Obama "change" it's pretty wishful thinking when that "change" blows from Chicago. The Chicago Machine is on full display today. It's no secret that you have to pay to play in this town. Everyone does it. One of my own family members once "bought" a drivers license. It's just the way it is here. There's nothing that can't be purchased in Cook County, including a presidency. How many favors do you think Obama owes after that record-breaking 600 million dollar campaign?

But let's talk about the stupidity involved in this particular arrest. How dumb do you have to be to know that the feds are all over you, bugging your friends, your office and you still flap your mouth? This guy should go to jail just for being stupid! They've got him on tape blackmailing the Chicago Tribune! He actually threatened to pull funding from them if they didn't fire their editorial staff who aren't nice to the great Blago in print! The nerve! They've got him, on tape again, saying a senate seat is an "f-ing valuable thing" and he's not just going to "give it away", it's "f-ing golden"!

The calls for resignation are beginning to reach a deafening tone. Impeachment process is being dissected and recommended. Jesse Jackson has "no comment".

Today is a great day. One might even say it's f-ing golden!

And now for the horror portion of my day. Politico headline reads, "Obama unveils 21st Century New Deal." Here are a few excerpts;

"...pledging the largest new investment in roads and bridges since President
Dwight D. Eisenhower built the Interstate system in the late 1950s...

...launch the most sweeping effort to modernize and upgrade school buildings that this country has ever seen...new computers...

We need to act with the urgency this moment demands to save or create at
least two and a half million jobs so that the nearly two million Americans who’ve lost them know that they have a future....

...massive effort to make public buildings more energy-efficient...replacing old heating systems and installing efficient light bulbs.

...every child should have the chance to get online, and they’ll get that chance when I’m president"

Let's start from the top, shall we? Obama says he's going to create millions of jobs by building roads and infrastructure. Who is going to pay these millions of new government workers? And who is going to pay for the roads and the infrastructure? You are. This is the road to serfdom. Obama is going to take all those people who just got laid off in the private sector and put them to work for the public machine...on your dime. They will become permanent employees of the state who can never be fired, never be held to any standards, and who will collect massive pensions paid for by you. It's nice work if you can get it.

Then we have the "sweeping upgrades" at all the schools. I ask again. Who is going to pay for that? You again! Lucky you. Then there's the upgrading of all public buildings to be "energy efficient," which is supposed to save the taxpayer money, but before it does...you guessed it...turn out your pockets again! Then there's my personal favorite, free broadband for all! It is majorly important to Mr. President Elect that every child have access to the internet whenever they want so they can more easily hook up with child predators. Ok, I made that last part up, I'm sure that's not what he intends...of course with today's uninvolved and non-judgmental parenting, child predators should be excited at the prospect of widening the victim pool to such a degree.

At a time of national economic crisis, which every news outlet is whining about, and unemployment rising, how effective will it be to overburden the taxpayers for new light bulbs and more government employees who routinely get caught sleeping on the job? Is this the change you were hoping for? Bigger government, more taxes, more boondoggle projects where funds will inevitably disappear and go unaccounted for? I hate to break it to you, but this is exactly the change I saw coming.

So before you overspend this Christmas, you might want to consider socking some cash away for that rainy day that is approaching when your country is going to rob you blind for the benefit of "others." (Funny how those "others" are never you...)

Planned Parenthood Strikes Again

This is simply outrageous. If any of you think that Planned Parenthood is looking out for teens and young girls you are FOOLISH. Here is proof of a Planned Parenthood "nurse" covering up a crime and sending a 13-year-old girl back to the arms of her molestor while encouraging her to cross state lines to get a secret abortion to skirt Indiana's parental notification laws. It is DISGUSTING that our tax money, BILLIONS OF IT, goes to these people. If you want to be angry about something, this is it. We should all be calling on our congressional reps to cut Planned Parenthood off the public teat! Why are we paying for this people??? It's not like abortions are free! These girls are paying $300 to $500 an abortion! What does PP do with the taxpayer money on top of it? Answer; break federal laws.
